JACKSONVILLE Fla. — A 62-year-old man is dead after he was apparently robbed and shot while on his way to work.
Police say the shooting occurred shortly after 4 a.m. in Jacksonville as Gary Leon Bell neared a bus stop in an area of the city where extra patrols were ordered earlier this year because of a high crime rate.
The Florida Times-Union reports police believe Bell was robbed before he was fatally shot.
Roads in the area were closed early Tuesday as police investigated.
