Hit And Run Suspect Arrested And Charged

Monday night the Florida Highway Patrol located the suspect in the morning’s hit and run crash on the Howard Franklin Bridge that killed a tow truck driver. Following a tip, they arrested 36 year old Allison Faye Huffman at the home of a friend at the Promenade Apartments in the Carillon area of St. Pete.

The tow truck driver, 43 year old Rogelio Perez-Borroto was assisting two stranded motorists. He had put them in his truck to keep them safe and was loading the car when he was struck and killed.

Huffman left the scene and drove her car to the parking lot of the Crown Plaza Hotel near the Westshore Mall where police found it yesterday morning. Huffman has three previous DUI arrests in Hillsborough County.

Perez-Borroto leaves behind a wife and a young daughter, who live in Venezuela. He came to the United States a year ago to make a better life for his family.

According the the FHP, Allison Faye Huffman is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
