BRANDON, Fla. (AP) — About 70 employees at Coca Cola’s Finance Shared Services office in Hillsborough County are expected to receive layoff notices this week.
The Tampa Tribune reports that employees at the company’s Brandon complex began getting notification of the layoffs Tuesday. Everyone is expected to get notification of their job status by Friday.
The 70 employees represent 7 percent of the 1,000-member workforce at the complex.
Atlanta-based Coca-Cola told the newspaper in a statement that it is striving to create a more efficient bottling operation.
The company says severance packages are being offered to employees losing their jobs.
Coca-Cola announced in January 2015 that it would lay off 1,800 employees nationwide, including 500 at its headquarters in Atlanta.
