FL Spends $1Million On Marvel’s Captain Citrus

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ The Florida Department of Citrus announced last week that the super hero used to market orange juice from the Sunshine State would be used in a series of web-based short videos. The animated version was created to coincide with the launch of the third Captain Citrus comic.

The agency has paid Marvel Comics $1 million to create Captain Citrus in hopes of bolstering orange juice’s reputation as a healthy and wholesome drink. The comics are distributed to school children in all 50 states, and they’re also available on the Department of Citrus’ web site.

In the animated version, Captain Citrus is voiced by a fifth-generation citrus grower, 24-year-old Christian Spinosa.
