FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a 6-year-old boy was shot and wounded in southwest Florida.
The News-Press reports that the shooting occurred Monday night.
Fort Myers interim police Chief Dennis Eads says the shooting might by connected to a September shooting, where the boy was a passenger with his mother in a car that injured another young boy. Investigators believe a man with the 6-year-old’s mother may have been the target.
Officials say the child was alert after the shooting and expected to recover.
No arrests were immediately reported.
