ISIS Audiotape Released Proves Leader Was Not Killed

ISIS has released an audiotape via social media that it says was recorded by its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Just last week, Iraqi government sources said that he had been caught in a U.S.-led air strike. The message from this tape is probably intended to counter the claim that Baghdadi had been killed.

There are also reports that leaders from ISIS and al Qaeda agreed on a plan to stop fighting each other and work together against their opponents. Such an accord could present new difficulties for Washington’s strategy against ISIS.
