This week on the Food Nation Radio Network we spoke with Dee Dee Flynn, Executive Director of the Popcorn Board to find out if the corn used for popcorn is genetically modified.
Genetic modification of corn makes it “Roundup ready”, which means an unlimited amount of Roundup can be sprayed on the corn and it won’t kill it, only the weeds around it. It also contains its own insecticide which some studies have shown can have adverse effects on humans. Upwards of 90% of corn grown in the United States is genetically modified. Is the corn used for popcorn modified?
