Interview: Obama Admin Defends Taliban Prisoner Swap

For five years, he was held captive in Afghanistan and now Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is back in American hands, freed in exchange for five Guantanamo terrorism detainees. It’s a swap that is stirring debate in Washington because the U.S. negotiated with the Taliban over the prisoners, a move that could put U.S. troops in danger. U.S. officials said Sunday that Bergdahl’s health and safety appeared in jeopardy, which is why prompt action was taken to secure his release.

ABC News correspondent Steven Portnoy joined ‘Your Wake Up Call’ from the White House on Monday to talk about Bergdahl’s release.

Your Wake Up Call airs on AM 820 News (Tampa) and AM 1190 News (Orlando) weekdays from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m.
