Seventy years after the first Allied planes set off for the World War II invasion of Normandy, President Obama and some other world leaders are in France to commemorate D-Day. By 630amET world leaders and dignitaries including the President, Queen Elizabeth II and Russian President Vladimir Putin will have gathered at Chateau Benouville, a resistance landmark, for lunch following a ceremony for those laid to rest at the Normandy American Cemetery. The day of remembrance comes just hours after French President Hollande held separate dinners with President Obama and Russian leaders in an attempt to bridge a growing divide.
