Half a dozen homeless people are suing the Sarasota over the city’s ordinance against sleeping in public places.
The ACLU-filed lawsuit says police are violating the U.S. Constitution’s ban on cruel and unusual punishment when they write tickets or arrests vagrants who sleep outdoors.
The homeless say they sleep outside when there area shelters are full.
