Hollywood will come to the bay area again to film a new movie called “Spring Breakers“.
This will be the third major shoot since the filming of last year’s Dolphin Tale.
Spring Breakers will star Academy Award-nominee James Franco (127 Hours), Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens (Disney Channel), and Heather Morris (Glee).
The movie is expected to be filmed in St. Petersburg and St. Pete Beach.
Hollywood seems to like an incentive program offering tax breaks to productions filming in Florida, because last October portions of the strip club comedy Magic Mike, featuring Matthew McConaughey, were shot in Pinellas County and Ybor City. And in December, scenes for the poverty drama Sunlight Jr., starring Matt Dillon and Naomi Watts, were shot in Clearwater. Those two new movies are scheduled for release later this year.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, Spring Breakers will have a mature theme about college students who rob a restaurant to finance their Florida vacation and wind up in trouble.
