Neighbors heard shots being fired in the neighborhood area of Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park Cemetery in Palm Harbor around 12:44 this morning.
According to deputies, they zeroed-in in the area and found it was coming from a home at 2796 Robinwood Drive in Palm Harbor.
They saw a male coming out of the garage of the home, firing several shots. He went into and out of the home several times times and during the course of this activity a fire began in the residence.
Deputies were able to approach the suspect on one of the occasions when he exited the home unarmed. That’s when he was told to stop and deputies had to deployed an electronic control device in order to subdue him and took him into custody.
The man who is now identified as 24-year-old Desmond Thumbtzen, has been arrested for discharge of a firearm.
Palm Harbor and Clearwater Fire responded to the home which deputies say was fully engulfed and is currently being investigated.
