Governor Scott Vetoes Equal Child Custody Bill

The most contentious bill of the 2016 Florida legislative session has been vetoed by Governor Scott.

The bill would have forced judges to give divorcing parents just about the same amount of time with their children.

Scott says that would lead to judges doing what’s in the best interest of the parents instead of the best interest of the child.

Scott says each divorce and family situation is different and judges need flexibility to award custody and visitation based on what’s best for the child.
