TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ Seven county school superintendents have been tasked with recommending ways Florida can cut red-tape and reduce paperwork for teachers and administrators.
Gov. Rick Scott and interim Education Commissioner Pam Stewart announced the appointments Wednesday.
They include William Husfelt of Bay County, Robert Runcie of Broward County, Douglas Whittaker of Charlotte County and Wallace Cox of Highlands County.
Rounding out the panel are Barbara Jenkins of Orange County, Joseph Joyner of St. Johns County and Margaret Smith of Volusia County.
Scott on Tuesday announced plans for a five-member committee but grew to seven on Wednesday.
Stewart said recommendations will be made to Scott within 30 days.
The governor entered office last year promising to cut state regulations on business.
Now he wants to do the same for schools.
