Anyone in the U.S. with $1,500 and the will to walk around in public with a computer on his or her face will be able to sign up to do just that next Tuesday. Google announced on Thursday afternoon that it would offer a “limited” sale of Glass starting on April 15 at 9 a.m.
Google Glass is currently in what’s called an “explorer” program — it’s not yet available to Regular Joe and Jane consumers to buy off the shelf. That won’t happen permanently until later this year. The Verge first reported on the Glass flash sale earlier on Thursday, citing leaked documents from Google. Based on those, it looks like the company will offer some of its “designer” frames for sale in addition to the original frame designs. There will be prescription and sunglasses frames for sale, as well.
