The body of a diver who retrieved golf balls from a lake at Sherman Hills Golf Club, located at 31200 Eagle Falls Drive in Brooksville. has been found.
There was some speculation as to what could have happened to him. Some thought a lake gator may have gotten him, others thought it might be equipment, or health problems.
David Voiles, 43, had not been seen or heard from since about 3 p.m. Monday, when he spoke to his mother. His car and the golf cart he used were parked next to the lake.
Voiles body was recovered just before 11 a.m. Tuesday by the Pasco County Dive Team, in about eight feet of water that was 58 degrees, Hernando County deputies said.
They ruled out an animal attack, saying an equipment failure or medical issue was likely to blame.
The Medical Examiner’s office has taken custody of Voiles’ body and will attempt to determine the cause of death.
