Girl Scout Cookie Sales Begin Today

Thin Mints

TAMPA (Jan. 6, 2014) – The wait is over! Beginning today, Jan. 6, Girl Scouts throughout west central Florida will begin taking orders for all your Girl Scout Cookie favorites.

This year’s cookie line-up includes: Do-Si-Dos®, Dulce de Leche, Samoas®, Tagalongs®, Thank U Berry Munch™, Thin Mints, Trefoils™ and Savannah Smiles®. Cookies will be sold throughout Girl Scouts of West Central Florida’s eight-county jurisdiction of Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sumter counties. Each box is just $4.

Through participation in the Girl Scout Cookie program – the largest girl-run business in the world – girls have the opportunity to learn goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics, and are empowered to become accomplished women who will use these skills to benefit not only themselves, but the world around them. With their Cookie Program proceeds, girls earn money for Girl Scout activities throughout the year and fund important community projects that benefit a variety of local causes. All proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie program stay in our local communities.

From Jan. 6-26, girls will take cookie pre-orders, and thousands upon thousands of cookies will be delivered to customers beginning Feb. 17.

Friday, Feb. 21 marks the start of booth sales, so keep an eye out at your favorite businesses and stores and take a box – or a dozen – home with you! Also beginning Feb. 21, visit www.gswcf.org to search for a Girl Scout Cookie booth nearest you using your zip code. Cookie fans with smart phones can download the free Girl Scout Cookie Locator app (Kellogg) by searching for “Cookie Locator” in the iPhone App Store or Android Market Place. It’s easier than ever to satisfy your Girl Scout Cookie cravings!

Cookie booth sales end Sunday, March 16.

For those who want to support Girl Scouting in their communities but don’t want to enjoy the cookies themselves, Girl Scouts of West Central Florida offers the Gift of Caring program. Donations of cookies through this program will be sent directly to U.S. military troops serving in combat zones overseas. Donations may be made in person through a Girl Scout at any time through March 16; corporations and businesses wishing to purchase at a corporate level may inquire about Gift of Caring sponsorships. Last year, 65,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies were donated by generous customers in our local communities, providing a much needed taste of home and encouragement for our troops.

Help girls become future leaders by supporting the Girl Scout Cookie Program. For more information about purchasing Girl Scout Cookies, visit www.gswcf.org/cookies or call (800) 881-4475, ext. 1838.
