A 16-year-old girl is in serious condition after being hit by a car Friday morning near Seminole High School.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on 86th Avenue North near 131st Street North at about 7:03 a.m. and involved the female student and a 49-year-old man driving a 1997 Ford pickup truck.
Police say the man was driving south on 131st Street North and turned left onto 86th Avenue North when the light was green. At the same time, the girl was crossing 86th Avenue and was hit by the truck.
She was transported to All Children’s Hospital where she is in stable condition. Police say she was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.
The eastbound lanes of 86th Ave. were blocked after the crash.
