Georgia Man Shot After Alleged Ky. Robbery

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Police in western Kentucky shot and injured a Georgia man after an alleged robbery.

Kentucky State Police say officers with the Madisonville Police Department were called to a restaurant early Sunday for a report of a robbery just before 3 a.m. Two Madisonville officers confronted the suspected as he was fleeing the scene near Ferrell’s Snappy Service.

State police say the man “ignored the officers’ commands to stop and aggressively moved toward them.” One of the officers, Justin Jones, fired one shot, striking the suspect in the leg.

The suspect, 43-year-old Corey Puckett of Atlanta, was taken to a hospital where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Officer Jones has been placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated
