Trayvon Martin’s Parents Attend Tampa Town Hall Meeting Today

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ The parents of Trayvon Martin are scheduled to attend the “Stand Your Ground for Justice” event at the Beulah Baptist Institutional Church at 1006 Cypress Street in Tampa today.

Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin will appear at the town hall meeting to talk about the shooting of their 17-year-old son nearly two months ago in Sanford.

Thursday’s event is sponsored by the National Bar Association and the panel will include Martin’s parents, state Senator Chris Smith, D-Fort Lauderdale, Carolyn Collins with the NAACP-Hillsborough County, the Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump and others.  CNN’s legal analyst Sunny Hostin will serve as moderator.

The town hall meeting is free and open to the public.

Trayvon Martin was shot and killed Feb. 26 on in Sanford.

The shooter, George Zimmerman, said he was acting in self-defense and was arrested April 11.
