Space Coast Still Hopes For A Commuter Rail Stop

MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) — All Aboard Florida has no plans for a stop on the Space Coast for its commuter rail service between South Florida and central Florida.

But that’s not stopping officials in the city of Melbourne from proposing stops along the route. The Melbourne City Council on Tuesday identified three potential stops.

Other Space Coast cities also have proposed stops for their jurisdictions. The Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization plan to discuss all the sites at a meeting next month.

The train service will connect Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Orlando. The first phase of the train services starts in 2017 in South Florida.
