Man Accused Of Attacking Family While On Drugs

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.- A 19-year-old man is accused of attacking a woman and her son at a Stuart home early Sunday morning.

According to Sheriff William Snyder, Nico Gallo “cannonballed” through the window of the home while high on drugs around 2:45 a.m. He grabbed the 55-year-old woman after jumping through the plate-glass window. The woman broke away and screamed for her adult son.

The woman also called 911 saying she needed police and that she was bleeding. She told the dispatcher, “he broke through my window!”

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the son fought Gallo while the mother hit the attacker on the head with a baseball bat. The woman recalled what she was doing while on the phone with the 911 dispatcher, saying he was going crazy and that she had hit him then hit him again with the baseball bat.

Despite being hit on the head with an aluminum baseball bat, Gallo showed incredible amounts of strength and continued fighting the woman’s son, said authorities.

When deputies arrived to the home they handcuffed Gallo and bound his feet, because they said he was kicking them.

The woman was bleeding from her arm when deputies arrived where Gallo had bit her. Gallo was bleeding from the head.

According to authorities, Gallo’s friends told police that they had been high on high on LSD, bath salts and acid, which they purchased in Margate.

Detectives tested Gallo’s friend and the tests came back positive for dibutylone, a designer drug that’s commonly found in bath salts.

This attack comes two weeks after another 19-year-old attacked a couple in the same county, killing them and eating pieces of their face and stomach. Austin Harrouff killed Michelle Mishcon Stevens and John Stevens on August 15.

Gallo is expected to be released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon and formally charged.
