FLORIDA MAN CHARGED IN REVENGE PORN CASE INVOLVING MINOR

A Miami Beach man has been charged in a revenge porn case that authorities say may not have been possible if the victim had not been underage when many images were taken. Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said Thursday that 38-year-old Antonio Giansante is facing six charges, including child pornography and cyber stalking. Investigators say after his relationship with the victim ended, Giansante allegedly tried to post explicit images of her on her work website and other sites on the Internet.

MEN GET LIFE FOR BEATING ANOTHER MAN, BURNING BODY

Two central Florida men convicted of beating another man unconscious and then burning his body have been sentenced to life in prison. A Highlands County judge sentenced 24-year-old Jonathan Rodriguez and 21-year-old Kenneth Felipe Jr. on Thursday. Authorities say Rodriguez and Felipe were at a party in June 2012 when Felipe punched Aaron Doty, knocking him unconscious. Rodriguez the jumped on Doty and continued to beat him. Rodriguez and Felipe burned Doty’s body hours later while he was still alive, but unconscious.

MAN FATALLY SHOT DURING HOME-SHOWING IN FORT LAUDERDALE

Police say a gunman fatally shot a man who was looking at a house near Fort Lauderdale with his wife and real estate agent. The shooting happened Thursday, just two days after the newly renovated home had been put on the market. Broward Sheriff’s officials say they believe robbery was the motive. They’re still searching for the gunman.

MAN CONNECTED TO TENNESSEE MURDER CASE FOUND DEAD IN FLORIDA

A man once thought to be a witness in a Tennessee nursing student’s murder case has been found dead in an apparent suicide in Florida, police said Thursday. The body of Shayne Austin was found in a hotel room in Bartow, Florida, on Monday, said Sgt. Eric Sherouse, a detective with the Bartow police department. Sherouse said Austin was hanged. Sherouse said there is no sign of foul play and evidence points to Austin committing suicide. An autopsy will determine the official cause of death.

COP ACCUSED OF USING STOLEN TAGS TO AVOID TOLLS

A Sweetwater police detective faces felony charges for using stolen license plates to avoid tolls on Florida’s Turnpike. Det. Octavio Oliu surrendered Thursday, more than a year after he was suspended from the tiny, scandal-ridden department in Miami-Dade County. Oliu’s attorney C. Michael Cornerly told the Miami Herald his client will fight the allegations.
