BIDEN IN FLORIDA FOR CRIST CAMPAIGN STOPS

Vice President Joe Biden didn’t waste any time addressing former Gov. Charlie Crist’s switch from Republican to Democrat at a campaign stop in Boca Raton in Monday where he blamed the GOP for abandoning the middle class. Binden says Crist didn’t leave the Republican Party. It left him. Crist is locked in a tight race against Gov. Rick Scott in one of the most negative gubernatorial campaigns in Florida history.

DEPUTY STRIKES, KILLS PEDESTRIAN NEAR FORT LAUDERDALE

The Florida Highway Patrol says an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy struck and killed a woman who was walking near the Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando. The crash happened early Monday morning as 38-year-old Deputy Eric Rivera was driving east in the “bi-directional turn lane.” Troopers say the woman was crossing the road when she was struck by Rivera’s vehicle and a second car.

WOMAN, GRANDDAUGHTER FOUND DEAD IN SOUTH FLORIDA LAKE

A woman and her 4-year-old granddaughter were found dead in a lake in a gated subdivision in Miramar on Monday. Police say the 59-year-old woman had taken the child to feed the ducks on Sunday night and they never returned. Police were called around 11 p.m. and they found the woman and child early Monday.

BOY DROWNS WHILE ATTENDING BIRTHDAY PARTY

A 9-year-old boy drowned while attending a birthday party on Sunday afternoon in Southwest Ranches near Fort Lauderdale. Police say the boy was spotted at the bottom of the pool and rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. It wasn’t clear how long he was under water.

SHARKE BITES WOMAN ON HAND

A shark bit a woman on the hand as she swam in the Atlantic Ocean off Melbourne Beach. The woman told paramedics on Sunday afternoon that the shark was two to three feet long. Brevard County Fire Rescue District Chief Josh Shepherd said the shark “swatted” at the woman with its fin and then bit her right hand. The woman who is in her early 20s was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne for treatment.
