The race is on to pull up to two million old tires from the ocean floor off Fort Lauderdale.
The tires were bound together with metal clips back in the 1970’s and dropped there in an effort to create an artificial reef where coral would grow and fish would nest.
But the metal clips have all but rusted away in the salt water environment.
Now, storm and ocean currents are pushing the loose tires all over the sea floor—a 35 acre landfill.
