Couple Accused of Stealing Luggage from Airport Carousels

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) _ Authorities have arrested a couple they say brazenly stole luggage from airport carousels.

They were accused Sunday of stealing bags at least five times from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Miami International Airport.

On Monday, 44-year-old Sean Maxwell and 42-year-old Lorina Flint told a judge they don’t have the money for a lawyer or to post bond.

Charges include grand theft and organized scheme to defraud.

In each case surveillance video captured a “well-dresssed man” placing suitcases on a baggage cart and walking away.

The South Florida SunSentinel (http://sunsent.nl/Jtcj2X ) reports a United Airlines employee noticed a man matching the description taking a bag from the carousel.

A Broward Sheriff’s deputy stopped him as he got into an SUV driven by his wife.

Inside were bags and piles of travel-related items.
