GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ Consumer confidence in Florida is dipping slightly.
The monthly University of Florida consumer sentiment survey released Friday fell less than a point from June.
The new survey shows that consumer sentiment was 89 in July. That’s on a scale of 2 to 150 benchmarked to 1966 at a value of 100.
Floridians’ confidence reached a post-recession peak earlier this year. But there’s been a drop-off since then.
Chris McCarty, director of the university center that does the survey, said in a statement that people who answered the survey had slightly less trust in the U.S. economy and weren’t as enthusiastic about purchasing big-ticket items like cars.
He said another factor is that older Floridians who answered the survey were more pessimistic about their personal finances.
