Florida’s Turnpike Tolls Set to Increase

Get ready to pay a little more if you use Florida’s Turnpike or the Sawgrass Expressway.

Tolls are set to rise at 6 a.m. Sunday morning, June 24th.

Across South Florida, the increase will be at least 25 cents _ even with a SunPass.

Cash drivers will be $1.25 instead of $1 and SunPass users will see tolls increase from 75 cents to $1. Along Alligator Alley, the toll will increase from $2.50 to $3 in cash and from $2 to $2.75 with a SunPass.

The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/JWISk7 ) reports the increase stems from law passed five years ago that lets the Florida Department of Transportation to link tolls it collects to the consumer price index.

Officials say tolls on I-95 or the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority highways are not affected.
