The girl crawled through a doggie door on the back of a house at 6421 69th Ave. N and wandered into the swimming pool, officials said. She was floating in the water for several minutes before a family member found her about 4:20 p.m.
She was not breathing when she was pulled out of the water, officials said.
Pinellas Park Fire Rescue personnel responded to the home just before 4:30 p.m. They began CPR and rushed the girl to St. Petersburg General Hospital. The girl was resuscitated, but remained unconscious as she was transferred to All Children’s Hospital.
Late Sunday night the girl passed away.
Pinellas Park police investigated the incident. No criminal charges were expected to be filed.
