The animals at Busch Gardens are used to having an audience. Now the veterinarians, technicians and trainers who care for them will get a piece of the spotlight, too.
“The Wildlife Docs,” a new television series offering a behind-the-scenes look at the work of those who care for the Tampa theme park’s more than 12,000 exotic animals, will premiere Oct. 5 on most ABC affiliates.
That work includes anything from assisting with the birth of tiger cubs to giving an elephant a pedicure, the park said in a news release announcing the show.
Much of the series will take place in Busch Gardens’ Animal Care Center, the $5 million, state-of-the-art facility that opened at the park last year. The facility, which features floor-to-ceiling windows on its surgical suites, allows park guests to watch vets as they examine and operate on animals.
