Trial For Man Who Threw Baby Out Car

Tampa, Florida — The first degree murder trial of Richard McTear, Jr. begins Monday morning in Hillsborough County.

He’s accused of one of the most heinous crimes you can imagine: Kidnapping 3-month-old Emanuel Murray from his mother and throwing the baby boy from his car.

Prosecutors want McTear to die for what he’s accused of doing to this child.

Count on prosecutors to point out the cold heartlessness of what McTear is accused of doing on May 5, 2009.

Police say McTear threw 3-month-old Emanuel Murray from his car along Interstate 275 near Busch Boulevard in Tampa. Detectives say early that morning, McTear had stormed into his on-again, off-again girlfriend’s apartment and attacked her.

Then they say he took Jasmine Bedwell’s baby by another man and threw the boy, in his infant carrier, to the ground.

Investigators say McTear left with the infant in his car. A short time later, a passing driver spotted Emanuel Murray’s body along the edge of the highway.
