COOPER CITY, Fla. (AP) — Two South Florida toddlers who fell into a residential pool last week have died from their injuries.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office reports that 2-year-old Kane Walter and 1-year-old Rhyle Rodriguez were being watched by Walter’s grandmother at a Cooper City home the morning of Sept. 12 when the two children fell into the family’s pool.
Deputies arrived minutes after the 911 call and began performing CPR. Paramedics arrived next and took the children to a Hollywood hospital.
The sheriff’s office reports that Walter died Friday, and Rodriguez died Saturday.
Detectives are investigating the double drowning, but no charges were immediately filed.
