New 4S iPhone Available in Bay Area Today

There’s something kind of cool about being first, especially if you’re the first to get your hands on the latest technology rolled out by Apple…the iPhone 4S.

Hundreds of people lined up early outsideInternationalPlazain anticipation of the 8am opening of the Apple Store.

Over at the AT&T Store on South Dale Mabry, the line started out small, but grew throughout the morning.

Pre-order sales topped one million in the first 24 hours of the announcement.  Those who didn’t make the cut to get it shipped to their front doors today, got in line as early as midnight.

Why? To be first.

It’s not just the excitement about the faster processor, voice activated assistant and crisper camera, but the fact there’s more competition.

For the first time, Sprint is now offering the iPhone along with AT&T and Verizon, giving consumers more options.

People with the iPhone 4 looking to upgrade who are still under contract say they’re getting around the extra fee by selling their iPhone 4 on websites like Ebay.  In fact, they’ve made enough money on the sale to actually profit from their purchase of new iPhone 4S.

The iPhone 4S is also launching inAustralia,Canada,France,Germany,Japanand theU.K.
