HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) — Police have a mystery on their hands after a couple of teenagers found a human skull in a South Florida lake.
Hollywood police say divers spent Monday morning searching Oak Lake Park, looking for bones and other evidence. Spokeswoman Diana Pereira says they didn’t find anything.
Two 15-year-olds found the skull over the weekend while they were swimming in the lake. Police say they found the skull when they pulled a shopping cart out of the water.
Pereira says the skull was taken to the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office, where investigators concluded it was human. She says an anthropologist will try to determine the age, race and gender.
