Lafonda Calloway, 32, has been charged with animal cruelty after an injured 8-week-old puppy was taken from her home.
“Macho” was taken from Calloway following complaints from neighbors that she was abusing the dog.
Hillsborough County Animal Services reported that the puppy had suffered a broken rib and head injuries.
Calloway is now charged with felony animal cruelty.
Police said Calloway violated probation stemming from an earlier battery charge, as well.
Police also said that this isn’t the first time she’s been in trouble.
Last year she was charged with abuse of an elderly or disabled adult.
