South Florida Couple Accused of Pet Hording

HIALEAH, Fla. (AP) _ Authorities say a South Florida couple kept nearly a hundred sick and injured dogs among other animals in their townhouse.

Hialeah police removed at least 60 dogs Thursday from the home of Ileana Arnais and Rubin Dario Arrojo.

Both face 34 counts of animal cruelty, which authorities say reflects the number of dogs rescued from the home in April and May by a dog groomer who befriended Arnais.

Police spokesman Carl Zogby tells The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/Njmx5D ) that more charges are pending.

Authorities say they also found cats, turtles, tropical fish and birds, rabbits, chickens, sugar gliders, a hedgehog and a goat at the home.

Zogby says the animals were living in filth. Arnais and Arrojo each were held Friday at the Miami-Dade County jail on $85,000 bond.
