Detectives are investigating a suspicious death in Tampa, Fl.
Police officers responded to a home on 38th street after receiving a 911 call about a deceased elderly female. The house that Mrs. Holmes lived in was in deplorable condition.
On July 24, 2013 Edward Holmes was charged with neglect of the elderly when he admitted his mother needed medical treatment.
There was no electricity or water and there were roaches and rats inside the home. The floor was also covered with mud and the roof was falling in. Her son was the primary caregiver, he told detectives he visited her daily since she has been unable to walk since July 4.
Pending the autopsy results, additional charges are possible. The autopsy is taking place today.
