OCALA, Fla. (AP) _ Marion County Sheriff’s officials say a small plane crashed in a wooded area, killed two people.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jenifer Lowe says the experimental plane was reported missing about 8:15 p.m. Thursday after it didn’t arrive as expected around 4 p.m.
Deputies found the wreckage in western Marion County around 9:45 p.m.
The Ocala Star-Banner (http://bit.ly/O8oHDj ) reports a husband and wife from Marion County were on board the plane.
Authorities believe they had been heading to a destination in the southeast Ocala area.
The newspaper reports a portion of the plane’s wing was found about 100 yards from the wreckage along a narrow dirt road.
No further details were immediately available.
