Robbery Suspect Fatally Shot in South Fla.

ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a man who was part of a group pretending to be police officers before forcing their way into a South Florida home.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call late Saturday about a home invasion robbery involving several people claiming to be police officers.

One suspect made it back to their vehicle as deputies arrived at the Royal Palm Beach home.

The sheriff’s office says 24-year-old Jamar F. Anderson initially cooperated but then drove towards the deputies.

Authorities say one deputy fired a single shot, striking Anderson in the neck. Anderson died at the scene.

A second person was taken into custody and one suspect remains at large.

None of the home’s three residents were harmed.
