Tampa Bay Rays Manager Joe Maddon is part of a group that plans to open a new restaurant in South Tampa. If all goes well, the owners plan to open several more across the region.
The restaurant, Ava, will open at 718 South Howard Ave., the Tampa Tribune said, and offer menu items with limited ingredients in a style described as “inspired Italian.” Its Italian name translates to “breath of life” in English. Michael Stewart, owner of the restaurant 717 and a longtime friend of Maddon’s, will be part of the ownership group for the new restaurant.
