After a two-week wait, the winner of last month’s $590.5 million Powerball jackpot has stepped forward.
The Florida Lottery has scheduled a news conference to announce the winner’s name at 2 p.m. today in Tallahassee. The winner will not be present, lottery officials said.
The winning ticket was purchased at a Publix on U.S. 301 in Zephyrhills.
The winner had 60 days to claim the lump-sum cash option, estimated around $376.9 million, at the Florida Lottery’s office in Tallahassee. Under Florida law, lottery winners in the state cannot remain anonymous; their names and city of residence must be made publicly available to anyone who asks, according to the state’s lottery website.
