NJ Man Waives Extradition from Florida

HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a New Jersey man accused of stabbing his estranged wife to death has waived extradition from Florida.

Customs agents in Orlando detained Pedro Gutierrez as he boarded a flight for his native Colombia on Tuesday night.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office says the 24-year-old fled after stabbing Shaday Betancourth to death in a Tenafly home. She was 24 years old.

The prosecutor’s office says the couple got married several years ago in Colombia and had separated in July.

Gutierrez is charged with murder.
