Man Holds Gun On Burglar Until Police Arrive

MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) — Police say a central Florida homeowner surprised a would-be burglar, holding him at gunpoint until officers arrived.

The Melbourne man told police he found a vehicle in his driveway when he got home Tuesday afternoon. He walked inside and found the burglar in his bedroom.

Police say 40-year-old Lyle Jenkins climbed out a bedroom window and tried to leave in his vehicle. But the resident grabbed a gun and followed him outside. He prevented Jenkins from leaving.

Nothing appeared to have been taken from the home.

Jenkins faces charges of occupied burglary and possession of burglary tools. A phone listing for Jenkins was not immediately available.
