Hillsborough Seeks Name For New School

Tampa, Fla. – The Hillsborough County School Board is seeking name nominations for an elementary school being built in the Ruskin area in 2014. Elementary School “A” is located on East Shell Point Road, adjacent to Lennard High School.

Anyone wishing to nominate a name for the school should send their recommendation in writing to Chris Farkas, Area Leadership Director for Area 8, at 2807 John Sherman Way, Ruskin, FL 33570, or at christopher.farkas@sdhc.k12.fl.us.

The deadline for accepting names is 4 p.m., Monday, September 9. Names submitted after this date will not be included in the packet of materials that will be prepared for the school board. The tentative date for the school board to vote on the name is Tuesday, September 24.

According to school board policy, schools shall be named for individuals who have rendered outstanding service to public education, such as U.S. presidents, school board members, educators, outstanding citizens, and geographic locations.
