Florida Socialite at Center of General’s Sex Scandal

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ A Florida socialite linked to the sex scandal that brought down CIA Director David Petraeus called police for what she termed diplomatic protection after the news media gathered outside her home.

Jill Kelley was an unofficial social ambassador for some of the military’s top brass at a base near Tampa.

News vans flocked to her home after her name surfaced in the Petraeus affair.

In a 911 call Monday, Kelly asked if reporters could be kept off her property.

She cited her status as an honorary consul general and asked if police wanted to “get diplomatic protection involved.”

Nearly all lines in the tangled Petraeus sex scandal lead back to Kelley, whose complaint about anonymous, threatening emails triggered the FBI investigation that led to the general’s downfall.
