Florida Airport Delays Due to Radar Outages

There were a lot of delays at airports throughout Florida yesterday due to radar outages in Jacksonville.

Six flights have been canceled and 24 have been delayed anywhere from 15 minutes to about an hour at TIA because of Federal Aviation Administration radar outages at the Jacksonville Air Route Traffic Control Center.

Sarasota Bradenton International Airport also reported delays.

Travelers should contact their airlines about possible itinerary changes.

There was a power failure after some maintenance was done, so for safety, controllers increased the air space between flights.

There were no problems with the local radar at TIA but the regional problem caused delays throughout the southeast.
