ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ An attorney for the family of a Florida A&M University drum major who died following a hazing incident is calling a lawsuit settlement offer from the school “insulting.”
Attorney Chris Chestnut said Thursday that FAMU’s offer to pay Robert Champion’s family $300,000 shows they aren’t serious about resolving the case.
The school’s settlement offer was made less than a week after efforts at mediation failed.
The Champion family’s lawsuit against the university alleges that school officials failed to stop hazing.
