Death Warrant Signed for Killer of Ohio Mom

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A man convicted of murdering an Ohio mother and her two daughters and tossing their bodies in Tampa Bay is scheduled to be the executed next month.

Gov. Rick Scott signed the death warrant for Oba Chandler on Monday. A Department of Corrections spokeswoman said Chandler’s execution is scheduled for 4 p.m. Nov. 15.

Chandler was convicted of murdering 36-year-old Joan Rodgers, her 14-year-old daughter Christe and 17-year-old daughter Michelle while they were returning to Willshire, Ohio, in 1989. He stripped them from the waist down, bound and gagged them and weighted their bodies before dumping them.

Chandler turns 65 on Tuesday.

It’s the second death warrant Scott has signed since taking office.
