SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) _ Authorities have charged a man with child negligence after his 5-year-old son was hit by a truck while riding his bicycle.
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune (http://bit.ly/zKYBMQ ) reports prosecutors have filed charges against Sergio Jackson.
His son Isaiah was critically injured Feb. 15 attempted to cross eight lanes of traffic on University Parkway without adult supervision.
The Florida Highway Patrol says a driver with a green light braked but was unable to avoid hitting the child. Troopers say the child was not wearing a helmet.
The boy was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. His condition was not known Wednesday morning.
