Cat Found Mutilated In Tampa Park

Tampa, Florida — A man walking his dog in Plymouth Park Monday morning came across a horrific scene when he discovered the partial remains of his neighbor’s cat.

Tampa Police say the cat, named “Lion,” was a domestic short-haired gray Tabby that was approximately five years old. Investigators say the animal was apparently shot or stabbed, before being cut in half and dumped in the park.

A Parks and Recreation employee who helped comb the area for any clues the day before, found the cat’s hind legs near the park’s basketball court Tuesday morning. Investigators believe the legs were placed in the park sometime before 9:20 Tuesday morning.

Police say neither of the cat’s remains had any signs of decomposition.

So far, police do not have any leads on Lion’s attacker and are asking for the public’s help tracking down the attacker or attackers. Anonymous tips may be eligible for a reward through Crimestoppers at 1-800-873-8477 (TIPS).
